Thursday, May 13th, 2010

The popular computer data backup software, Carbonite, is coming to a BlackBerry near you. The BlackBerry Carbonite app will have a very similar interface as the computer version. This should allow for an easy transition for current users.

"Many Carbonite subscribers are small businesses who use the standard Carbonite product or Carbonite Pro, which we debuted earlier this year," says company CEO and co-founder David Friend. "Many of these business users rely on their BlackBerry smartphones and now will not only be able to access e-mail and the Web, but also all of their invaluable files they have backed up."

Insert Symbols into Blackberry Messenger The Easy Way

Friday, April 30th, 2010

The Fancy Character app has all the symbols that have been passed down and then some. The first ones you see are the BlackBerry ones, these include the lightening bolt, the umbrella, the BlackBerry 3G symbol, and the card suites. The second set available is the Astrology symbols when you click on the Scorpio M. The next set is characterized by the arrows going both ways, and contains directional symbols. The last is the the editing marks and math marks.

This is so much easier than the other way. Before you had to copy each symbol, paste them in AutoText with a phrase or so to replace with your symbol. It could take a while and you had to remember what you saved each symbol under. Then when you're typing you type the word to be replaced, space, and your symbol appears.

First you pick the category, then the symbol and it's inserted. That fast, that easy. it's a bargain. If you have ever thought "How do they get that symbol?" Or wanted to do more and can't get enough symbols, this is the app you've been waiting for. Get Fancy Character app now! (more...)

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

One of the great flaws of the BlackBerry OS is the way it notifies us of incoming messages. The blinking red-LED is great, but it doesn’t tell us anything about the nature of the communication. Did I get an email? An SMS? A missed call?

That’s where BerryBuzz comes in. Compatible with just about every BlackBerry you could throw at it, BerryBuzz lets you customize that LED. Want a turquoise LED for new Email, and a yellow one for missed calls? You got it. With BerryBuzz, you can tell what type of communication your BlackBerry is telling you about—just from a glance at the LED.
